MICROSCOPIC-GRAIN-OVERLAP

A negative from the GRAIN PROVOCATION series was enlarged with a light microscope, using lenses with increasing magnification factors from 10x, 20x to 50x and photographed on B/W film, using the same camera body that was used to expose the original film in 2018. The successive enlargement follows on from the GRAIN PROVOCATION series: after the images in the original series become increasingly grainy as the series progresses and by the means of different film sensitivities and grain forcing-combinations of exposure and development, the motif in the microscope images dissolves and is overlapped by the exposed silver grains of the b/w emulsion, which become the image itself. A game with dissolution and dissolving as well as with what is depicted and what is depicting.
